A staging environment is an exact copy of your live website that runs in a separate, private location. It looks and works exactly like your real site, but changes made on staging do not affect your live site. Think of it as a rehearsal space where we can test changes safely.
Why We Use Staging
Staging environments are essential for:
- Testing updates — WordPress, plugin, and theme updates are applied to staging first to check for conflicts
- Developing new features — New pages, design changes, or functionality are built and reviewed on staging before going live
- Training — You can practise editing content on staging without any risk to your live site
- Client review — We share staging links for your approval before pushing changes live
How It Works at InnerMedia
Every InnerMedia site on Kinsta can have a staging environment created in minutes. We create a full clone of your live site — all pages, posts, images, settings, and the database. The staging site has its own URL and is password-protected so it is not publicly accessible.
Once changes are tested and approved on staging, we 'push' them to your live site. This process takes just a few minutes and involves minimal or no downtime.
Can I Access Staging?
Yes — if you would like access to your staging environment for review or testing, just let us know. We will send you the URL and login credentials. Remember that any content you add on staging will not appear on the live site unless we push the changes across.
