What Is WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin that turns your website into an online shop. Some schools use it to sell uniform, event tickets, or school merchandise. If your site has WooCommerce installed, you will see a ‘WooCommerce’ menu item in the WordPress sidebar.

Managing Products

Go to Products → All Products to see your items. Click on any product to edit its name, description, price, images, and stock levels. To add a new product, click ‘Add New’ and fill in the details. Set the product type (Simple, Variable, or Grouped) depending on whether it has options like sizes or colours.

Processing Orders

When someone makes a purchase, it appears under WooCommerce → Orders. Each order shows the items purchased, customer details, and payment status. Update the order status as you process it — from ‘Processing’ to ‘Completed’ once shipped or collected.

📦 Order Notifications

WooCommerce sends automatic email notifications to both you and the customer at each stage. Check WooCommerce → Settings → Emails to customise these messages.

Payment Settings

Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments to manage how you accept payments. Common gateways include Stripe (credit/debit cards) and PayPal. Each gateway needs to be configured with your account details.
