Fix Posts Appearing in Uncategorised

Fix existing posts
  1. Go to Posts → All Posts.
  2. Tick the posts that landed in Uncategorised.
  3. Choose Edit from the Bulk actions dropdown and click Apply.
  4. Set the Category to News and click Update.

Set the correct default for new posts

Go to Settings → Writing, and change Default Post Category from Uncategorised to News.

Save Changes

Any post published from now on without a category manually chosen will use News instead of Uncategorised.
