Understand Email vs Hosting

Your website hosting and your email are separate services, even though they often use the same domain name. InnerMedia manages your website hosting on Kinsta, but your email is typically handled by Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or your own mail server. Email forwarding creates a redirect from one email address to another.

Request a Forwarding Rule

If you need an email like info@yourschool.co.uk to forward to a specific inbox, contact InnerMedia. We will set up the forwarding rule in your DNS or email provider.

Pro Tip
Email forwarding is different from an email alias. Forwarding sends a copy to another address; an alias lets you send FROM that address too. Let us know which you need.

Verify It Works

Once we confirm the forwarding is set up, send a test email to the forwarded address from an external account. Check that it arrives in the target inbox. If it goes to spam, let us know โ€” we may need to update SPF or DKIM records.

Update Staff When Roles Change

When staff change roles or leave, email forwarding rules should be updated promptly. Contact us to redirect emails to the new person or remove unused forwarding rules.

Never forward school emails to personal email addresses (Gmail, Hotmail, etc.) without checking your school's data protection policy.
