How to Fix PDF Links That Ask Visitors to Sign In

Step 0 of 5 completed
1
Check where the file is hosted

Click the broken PDF link and check the address bar. If it points to a sharepoint.com or onedrive.live.com address, that’s the problem — those files require the visitor to sign in to your organisation’s Microsoft account.

2
Upload the file to your Media Library
  1. Download the file from SharePoint/OneDrive to your computer first, if needed.
  2. In wp-admin, go to Media → Add New and upload it.
3
Copy the new file URL

Click the uploaded file in the Media Library and copy its File URL from the Attachment Details panel.

4
Update the link on your page
  1. Edit the page containing the broken link.
  2. Select the linked text and replace the link URL with the new Media Library file URL.
  3. Update the page.
5
Test it

Open the page in a private/incognito browser window and click the link to confirm it opens the PDF without asking for a sign-in.
