⚠️ Removing a link isn't enough

If you remove a document's link from a page, the file itself is not deleted — it's still live at its direct web address, and can still be found via search engines or a saved/shared link. This matters most for sensitive documents, such as ones containing pupils' or staff members' personal data.

What to do

  1. Go to Media → Library, find the document, and delete it from the Media Library.
  2. Clear your site’s cache so the deletion takes effect immediately, rather than a cached copy of the page or file continuing to be served.
  3. Contact Innermedia support straight away and let us know which document was removed and why.

Deleting the file from the Media Library removes it from your site’s file storage, but a copy can still exist in the site’s database and backups until it’s fully purged. We’ll delete it from the database on our end and add a redirect so the old link doesn’t show a 404 error if anyone still has it saved.

⚡ If the document contains personal data

Treat this as urgent — flag it to support as a priority so we can purge it from the database as soon as possible, rather than waiting for a routine reply.
