How to Fix PDF Links That Ask Visitors to Sign In
Step 0 of 5 completed
1
Check where the file is hosted
Click the broken PDF link and check the address bar. If it points to a sharepoint.com or onedrive.live.com address, that’s the problem — those files require the visitor to sign in to your organisation’s Microsoft account.
2
Upload the file to your Media Library
- Download the file from SharePoint/OneDrive to your computer first, if needed.
- In wp-admin, go to Media → Add New and upload it.
3
Copy the new file URL
Click the uploaded file in the Media Library and copy its File URL from the Attachment Details panel.
4
Update the link on your page
- Edit the page containing the broken link.
- Select the linked text and replace the link URL with the new Media Library file URL.
- Update the page.
5
Test it
Open the page in a private/incognito browser window and click the link to confirm it opens the PDF without asking for a sign-in.
