Setting up a pop-up banner with Popup Maker

Step 0 of 5 completed
1
Check your site has Popup Maker

Popup Maker is an additional plugin — it’s only installed on some InnerMedia sites, not all of them.

  1. Look for a Popups item in your WordPress admin menu.
  2. If you see it, follow the rest of this article.
  3. If you don’t see it, your site doesn’t have Popup Maker installed. Instead, use the Site Alert popup built into your site — see How to set up a site popup (under ACF → Alert Settings).
2
Reuse or create a popup
  1. If you’ve made a pop-up banner before (e.g. for a previous Open Morning), go to Popups, open the existing one, and duplicate it or edit it directly.
  2. To start from scratch, go to Popups → Add New.
3
Add your content
  1. Give the popup a Title (for your reference only — visitors won’t see this).
  2. Add your message, dates and any link in the main content editor, just as you would on a normal page.
4
Set when it should appear
  1. Scroll to Display Triggers and set the trigger to Time Delay/Auto Open.
  2. Under Targeting Conditions, choose where it should show — for example, the homepage only.
Pro Tip
The trigger must be set to Time Delay/Auto Open — without this, the popup won't appear automatically when someone lands on the homepage.
5
Publish and check it
  1. Click Publish.
  2. Visit your site’s homepage in a private/incognito window to see the popup as a visitor would.
  3. When the event has passed, edit the popup and switch it back to Draft so it stops showing.
